That is what is happening these days across many financial institutions. People admits that the fault was due to the lack of effective governance over reckless extension of credit. Instead of fixing responsibility for faulty policies and governance, HR is aiding layoffs as a way for cutting down costs.
promotes the special needs of human resource in an organisation setting which is no different from similar needs in any community setting. directionally personnel management converges to community health.

Impact of Credit crunch on hr functions
Impact of credit crunch on hr functions:
Is the ongoing credit crunch going to affect hr functions; especially in markets/industries affected by the same.? Considering the conventional approches of right sizing and outsourcing to reduce overheads and costs has a backlash on unemployment and consumption, what other measures can hr managers contribute to help tide over these difficult times?

2028 : Cultural diversity makes up an environment friendly workplace :
"One of the biggest things that is likely to change over the next 20 years is what ties us to our jobs," says Lucy McGee, head of marketing at business psychologist OPP. Everyone has a different bond with their work, but the common denominators have changed considerably......in the coming years, and by 2028 we may well see ourselves in a position where the first question is no longer 'how much does it pay', but rather 'what's the environmental record of the company?

To trigger group dynamics:
"I once placed an openly gay man in a C-level position in a mid-sized company. The CEO was a straight Asian man and all other executives were straight white Anglo males. The executive culture was one of angst and some backstabbing. The gay exec immediately began entertaining employees and associates in his home. This group once filled with animosity became friends. A group of them even rented a villa in Europe for a week's vacation. He changed everything - at least for a while" --Joan Holley ,Owner, AGISearch Executive Search and Recruitment

helps to enrich relations externally and internally:
"For me the answer is clear, cultural diversity is necessary and essential in an organization. Imagine having someone who knows the customs of the clients on hand whenever you need them.
I would think that you could have both performance and excellence in one company if you reinforced diversity. Now, thus said, I would not advocate anything like quotas! I simply would find it enriching to have people on staff in an organization who had traveled, lived and grown up in other cultures than the dominant one." ---Messages from Heather Buckner Vitaglione
